Accomplishments
(These are a couple of examples of how I've helped businesses:)
I helped a national consulting company grow its business by streamlining its processes with a custom database
solution. The company staff had been tracking its work in spreadsheets and manually creating various
documents. The database solution I created eliminated duplicate data entry. It allows entering information
in one place. The application outputs documents based on templates at the push of a button, and outputs some
Excel spreadsheets with complete formatting in place. Links to the documents are stored in the
database, so staff can immediately fetch them with a click of the mouse from the database application.
I streamlined a couple of processes for a large department in a statewide business. The department was
doing regular downloads of data from a website to import into its database. I cut out steps by making the
database application perform web scraping to automatically pull in the data from the website at the push of
a button. Staff were creating spreadsheets of information exported from the database. I eliminated steps
in the process by making the database create spreadsheets on the fly with all formatting in place.
I helped a company that performs a service for attorneys (i.e., process serving) transform its old custom
database into one with more functionality. I added email integration for allowing email generation from
within the database application. I also developed a website application for allowing the company's clients
to view the status of their service jobs and account information online. Later, I worked with another
consultant to build a web app for the company's smart phones. I worked with the owner over time to add automation
to time consuming tasks as the business grew and took on more work.
